This year, for my little girl’s birthday I had a hard time deciding what I wanted to do. Mainly because my little one is my last baby, (sniff!) and that I’ve been having a hard time seeing her grow from a tiny little baby to a little girl. I wanted something beautiful but special to mark this special year. I wanted her party to be more about celebrating her than letting the event be the focus. So a cake fit for the princess was the perfect choice! And what cake isn’t complete without a chandelier! 🙂 I’ve also been dying to taste a naked cake! And it seemed this was the perfect excuse. I also wanted to try my skills at cake floral design. I was an intern back in the days at a floral shop many, many years ago. and working with flowers again, made me realize I just might have missed my calling in life! haha 🙂
I have never attempted cake floral design, so it was a challenge for me. But I do think the whole vignette turned out so pretty with all the fall colors!
Here are some money saving floral tips: I learned that some florists have a bucket of discounted roses. Roses that are older, bruised or the buds are to open to sell. As you can see on my cake, I used all roses mainly because of the discount I got! I scored because I wanted the more open rose look to give the natural rose garden feel. In the end, I spent very little on the flowers, and I got a variety of unique flowers which I LOVED!
About the chandelier…I wish I had an amazing piece like this just hanging around my home, but my local rental shop came to the rescue and had the PERFECT light for the party! The rental prices are VERY affordable and I personally think it was the perfect element that brought everything together.
I rented the chandelier from one of my FAVORITE rental locations Signture Party Rentals
The sequin tablecloth came from a cute shop on Esty. If you know me, I am obsessed with Etsy!
So many creative people all in one spot.
My entire family and I really enjoyed the time together! Really all you need for a great party is cake anyway:) Am I right? We all enjoyed the outdoor space see HERE, especially as it was more than likely the last outdoor event of the season. Getting warm by the fire, sitting in comfy chairs, and enjoying the beautiful glow of the chandelier was awesome! And the best part was something we couldn’t plan for . . . a perfect sunset added to the night. I am convinced now, that I need a hanging light over my outdoor space!!!
Happy 3rd Birthday to my sweet baby girl!
