Hey my friends! I am very excited to share with you a special project I have been working on! I was invited by Carpet One to design a Mood Board with their “Twenty for 2020” top flooring products for the year. This design opportunity couldn’t have come at a better time as my hubby and I are embarking on a New Home build of our own!
Creating Mood Boards has to be one of my most favorite things to do. I love gathering ideas, textures, and colors together in a cohesive group. I find that I am inspired by simple, everyday items, like the beautiful architecture of buildings or nature, and get to use them in my designs. I really do love my job:)
I found Carpet One Twenty for 2020 as an incredible source of inspiration that aided me in creating a plan and design for our upcoming home.
Carpet One sent me the most darling box full of their top choices of carpet, wood floor, and tile samples. I was thrilled to see that it aligned perfectly with my vision. The selection of wood in a variety of tones was right on trend with what is popular. I instantly fell in love with the Invincible H2O West Barclay in Delightful. This product is really making waves with new builds and remodels! Having a Luxury vinyl floor, that looks and feels like wood, is such a game changer!
My most favorite carpet choices, that I am absolutely swooning over are: The Passages by Tigressá Bright Future in Marina as well as the Lees Studio Pier 5 in Canoe
I quickly got to work designing my Mood Board! Today, you get to see a sneak peek on the design direction I am going for in my kitchen and family room. These two rooms are the heart of the home, and as a designer and a Mom, I want these spaces to be warm and inviting. Fresh-baked cookies will always be an added bonus to any good design:)
As you can see on my Design Board, I lean towards the creams and whites with a pop of French blues. In this new kitchen, I want to add a beautiful French Stove as well as a slab of quartz on the island, or possibly my very favorite stone, marble:) To make the perfect space, it’s a good idea to highlight your hardware, lighting, and faucets. I feel that if you can get these elements to blend with the right tile and flooring, you can create the perfect storm for timeless beauty. In my personal design, I love to mix metals. As you can see in the pictures, it gives a more custom look to not have everything so “matchy.” My favorite combo these days is brass, polished nickel and black.
Also sticking with traditional elements is very important to me. Carpet One seems to nail it on the head with the tones for 2020. Everything they offer seems to be timeless, cozy, light and airy, which is exactly the goal I am after.
