There are so many decisions to make while building a custom home. Over the last year, it’s felt like a roller coaster ride, trying to figure out what the best choices are and should be! I would have to say that, for me, picking a wood floor was extremely important.
I knew it was going to cover the majority of my home and I also knew that it was one of a bigger investments that I needed to love for several years to come.
When I started to shop for wood, I quickly realized that choosing the right wood floor can be a huge challenge! I did a ton of research, and I mean a ton! I visited dozens of flooring stores in search for the perfect wood floor for my home. There were a few things on my “MUST HAVE” list and I wasn’t about to compromise.
1.It had to be priced well and within my budget.
2.It had to be the right color that accented the color palette I chose for my home, which surprisingly, a lot of the woods I kept finding were either too pink or too grey or too yellow.
3.And last, but not least, it had to be an engineered wood that was amazing quality and would stand up to a busy family of 6.
I went on a hunt, which started about 8 months ago. This has been a journey, to say the least, and I’m so lucky to have found the perfect source: PRAVADA flooring (Que the angels singing praises)
Not only did they have the floor I was looking for, but they ALSO had a suite of the most amazing color choices in engineered wood I have ever seen! Honestly, the hardest part of deciding the perfect floor for me was that ALL of Pravada’s samples looked soooooooo good, it made it difficult to choose just one. But I guess, having lots of great choices is always a GOOD thing, right?
One added bonus is the names of each floor are French, and my husband speaks fluently, so we had a lot of fun conversations around each floor type
Here are a few colors from Pravada that I personally love:
ATELIER– What I picked for my Home, And in my opinion perfection!
AURA- Soft and light
GENRE– a bit more warmth
FLEUR– beige mixed with grey
Like I said before, it was a hard choice, but Atelier was the final pick and I LOVE it!!!
The tone of this wood has a natural feel with a tiny hint of grey in it and a whitewash finish. I wanted a warm wood, but not too warm as to take over the entire space. For me the mix of warm and grey is spot on! My home finishes are a mix of grey, blues, whites, creams and gold accents. As you can tell, Atelier from Pravada was the perfect foundation for everything! The wood has a light, hand-scraped finish and the truth, I haven’t seen a prettier wood and I have done my fair share of window shopping
When you start to shop for flooring, consider the undertones, consider the “look” and feel you want for your home. Do you want the floors to blend into your surroundings or be more of a bold statement? Do you want a rustic feel or a wood that has less movement? There is so much to consider when choosing the right wood floor.
As the journey continues and the floor begins installation, I’ll share more information and pictures of the process to keep you posted along the way!
